Team Game News

I have decided to organise another team game as the last one was in October 2009.

The game will be taking place in THE GOOD INTENT on Saturday September the 4th with a start time of 1pm.

The format is going to be different from the last one and I will warn you now. If you sign up for a team it has the potential of being a very long, i.e. 10 hour day of poker.

The way it works

Each of the teams below will be asked to provide 8 players. Each of the 8 players will play one single table tournament against a member from the other teams. There will be no changing of seats or moving tables, once you are sat down you will just have the one table to beat.

Each table then plays it's game and each finishing position will be worth chips. Win the table and you will be awarded 3000 chips, come second and it's worth 2000, third is 1500, fourth is 1200, fifth is 1000, sixth is 800, seventh is 600 and if you go out first on your table it will be worth 400 chips.

At the end of all the single table games, all the chips of each individual team will be added up to give a total that will be carried onto the FINAL TABLE. At the final table, each team will nominate one player to play a blind level, and at the end of each of the first 8 blind levels a different team member must play. After 8 levels the teams nominate again and keep swapping players until the game is over. After the first 8 levels you do NOT need to use each player of the team again, but you DO have to keep swapping at least two players until the end of the game.

Each team will be allowed ONE time out each. This means that should you be faced with a particularly difficult decision, you may ask for the clock to be stopped and confer with the rest of the team for their opinion on the hand. Be careful! Once you use the time out for your team it will mean that everyone else will be forced to go it on their own with your chances....

When a Time Out is called. No-one else at the table must discuss the hand IN ANY WAY with anyone else. All the other players must remain seated until the team calling time out return with their next play.

And thats about it I think. Each single table game will be designed to last about 4 hours and there will be a break inbetween that and the final table, which is envisaged to last the same 4 hours plus...

Last time we had a team game we tried to get a team up from every pub and have two semi finals. This ended up with one game having 6 teams and one game having 5! So this time I am not asking every venue to produce a team, just the following:

The Cartwheel Captain - Martin "No Jack" Harris.
The Clyde Captain - Neil Grima.
The Fire Engine Captain - "Mad Jan Coventry.
The Good Intent Captain - Stefferz.
The Iron Bridge Captain - Hutch.
The White Horse Captain - Alan "Ping Pong" Smith.
The Yeoman Captain - Ann Humps.
One Other Team Captain - TBC.

The captain of each team has absolute discretion who they invite. Obviously with only 64 places maximum I am expecting there will be one or two that might want to play who can't but there is nothing I can do...
