June Monthly final result

A field of 67 started the monthly final recently The Yeoman.

Before the final table of 9 started, a deal was agreed to take £20 off the top prize of £500 and pay it to the person out in 9th instead of them finishing on the bubble as usual. As it happened I was the first person out, going all in for value with 6-7 of Hearts only to run into JJ's pocket Jacks, so I declined the money and put it back on the top prize.

This left us with our 8 lucky prize winners. in 8th place was "Mad" Jan Coventry

  • 8th - Mad Jan - £20

    • Lance was out in 7th. Re-Raising JJ from the Big blind only to find JJ with Pocket Aces!

  • 7th - Lance - £25

    • Mitch made another final table appearance but was out in 6th this time.

  • 6th - Mitch - £30

    • My wife Lyndsay was out in 5th. Pushing all in for 35000 chips with Ace-Ten of Clubs from the button, she found JJ in a calling mood after he had limped in from first position with King-5 of Hearts. A King on the flop saw me have to put up with an ear bashing for the next 7 days, and Lyndsay collect 50 quid. Thanks JJ.

  • 5th - Bootsie - £50

    • I was sat next to Lyndsay when the photos were taken having drawn seat 4 next to Lynz's seat 5.

    Penguin had made a recent return to the league after not playing for a while, and finished a creditable 4th.

  • 4th - Penguin - £75

    • Brad finished third in, I think, his first final table appearance at a final

  • 3rd - Brad - £100

    • This left us with 2 players. JJ, having knocked out the vast majority of the final table, and Phil, making his first final table appearance. As Phil regularly plays in the The Yeoman, he had the biggest fan club, but it didn't matter. JJ conquered the heads up battle after the flop of Queen-Ace-4 was checked by both players, the turn of 5 was checked again then when the river came down a 2, Phil announced all in, and JJ called. Phil turned over 5-4 for 2 pairs on the turn and JJ showed 3-5 for the rivered straight....

  • Runner up - Phil who took home £200.

  • WINNER - "JJ" - TOP PRIZE £500

    • As well as taking home the top prize and the trophy, JJ also secures the final place in the "Champion of Champions" game taking place on August 16th in The Iron Bridge.
