May Monthly final result

A smaller than normal field of only 59 people played in the monthly final on Fathers Day in The Red Lion.



The final table saw an amazing turn around ahortly after it began. Chris "P Da Man" Pincott had sat down as the chip leader with 61,000 chips in play but after playing the blinds then found himself all in against Darren Prouds now slightly bigger stack of 59,000. Chris had hit top and bottom pair on a King-x-4 flop and saw his push all in called by Darren holding King-9. A 9 on the river cruelly knocked Chris out on the bubble!

This left us with our 8 lucky prize winners. in 8th place was Ian "Mr B" Benham

  • 8th - Mr B - £20

    • Riverman was out in 7th.

  • 7th - Riverman - £25

    • Friar Tuck was out in 6th in his first final table appearance

  • 6th - Friar Tuck - £30

    • Mitch Hayward, part of "The Academy" was out in 5th.

  • 5th - Mitch - £50

    • I was sat next to Mitch when the photos were taken (though i didnt have a hat or glasses on at the time) and followed him out in 4th place.

  • 4th - Thomas Pancake - £75

    • Mark Tilling, one of our regular final table finishers finished third this month. Mark was incredibly unlucky to split a hand with Dave Riches after showing pocket Aces against Dave's King 9 after both players were all in pre flop.

  • 3rd - Mark Tilling - £100

    • This left us with 2 players. Darren Proud and Dave Riches, the second member of "The Academy" who was bidding to become the first player to win the Monthly Final for an amazing third time.

    With two of the other two-time winners in attendance watching keenly it became tense until Daves push with Queen was instantly called by Darren with Ace-Ten, and the Queen of Hearts appeared on the board to give Dave the £500 and his third trophy.

  • Runner up - Darren Proud who took home £200.
