61 Players turned up on July 25th on a hot and sweaty afternoon at the King Billy to see who would be this months champion.
With 61 starters we paid out positions 12-10 with ten pounds, and the rest of the prizes went up from there.
- 9th - Will "Houdini" Veale
A regular visitor to the final tables at finals, Will was out before I had a chance to take his photo!
Sorry Will. He took home £20 for this months performance
- 8th - James Lawson
Another player out before I had chance to grab my camera, James went out in 8th. He picked up £25
- 7th - Stefferz
At one point Stefferz looked on course for the coveted "Back to Back" final wins but in the end it wasn't to be.
Eventually out in 7th place he collected £30
- 6th - Koi
Another regular final table finisher, Mark "Koi" Carpenter continued his recent good run of form before going out in 6th in the same hand as Stefferz. Both players knocked out By Mr B hitting his straight. He collected £40.00.
- 5th - Steve "Fagbreak" Smith
-
Fagbreak is a fairly rare visitor to the final table of a final. He finished second in a final at Olveston Cricket Club back in the day. This time Steve was out in 5th collecting £50
- 4th - Tom "Godfather" Page
Tom was in shades and headphones all the way and in the end went out in 4th collecting £60.00.
- 3rd - Alexis
With two females left in the top 3 it was looking good for a rare victory for the fair sex. At one stage with Alexis having 220,000, Mr B having 210,000 and Mandy having just 30,000 it looked like an odds on shot that Alexis would do even better than her third place finsih in the Engine final last month but it wasn't to be. Still showing excellent consistency, Alexis finished in 3rd for the second month in a row and collected another £75.00.
This left our final 2. Mandy and Ian, both looking for their first final win.
The final 2:
No chop of the money this month and Ian started the heads up battle with about a 4 to 1 chip lead. The heads up battle went on for a short time, but in the end, the chips told and an all in pre flop shove by both players saw Ian's Ace-Jack win the day!
- 2nd - Mandy
Mandy was this months runners up and she was delighted to take home £100.00.
- CHAMPION - Ian "Mr B" Benham
Mr B finally wins his first title. Playing through the pain he was in, he collected £300 and the trophy.
The next final is in the Rose and Crown on August Bank holiday weekend. We hope to see you there!
