Bristol Poker League April 2010 Monthly Final Result

71 Players all gave up doing something less interesting on the last Bank Holiday Monday in May to go to Snooker City in an attempt to become this months champion.

Phil Lawson making his re-appearance at a final was our first player out.

We paid out positions 16-10 with Ten pounds as usual, and when final table was reached Alan "Ping Pong" Smith was sat with a stack of chips totalling 214,000 and Phil from Snooker City was on his immediate right with just 2,000! However, it's funny how quickly things can change on a poker table when Lady Luck decides to get involved....

  • 9th - Karen
  • I have lost count at how many final tables Karen has made! This time she went out in 9th and took home £20

  • 8th - Jack
  • Jack went out in 8th. He picked up £25

  • 7th - Julie
  • Julie went out in 7th place when her push all in with Ace-Jack got called by Ludo with King-Queen suited. Ludo hit. Julie collected £30

  • 6th - Bird
  • Bird was or last remaining female player and went out in 6th. She collected £40.00.

  • 5th - Ping Pong
  • Alan arrived at the final table with one of the biggest stacks ever. But with blinds at 1000/2000 and 2000/4000 and people pushing all in, it is quite easily to lose a lot of chips in a short space of time... And so it proved again. After losing a couple of races and finding his moves called by desperate short stacks he finished 5th for £50.00.

  • 4th - Phil
  • Phil arrived with 2,000 chips and went out in 4th whilst picking up £60.00! Luckily drawing seat 9 and so able to avoid playing any hands immediately, Phil picked his spots, got lucky and eventually finished 4th.

  • 3rd - Rich
  • Rich finished in 3rd for £75.00.

This left our final 2. Ludovic, who plays in The Clyde and Nick "Lord Overbet" Smith

    The final 2:

A swift chop of the money meant a lot of the tension went from the heads up battle, and eventually Ludo triumphed when his 7-4 hit the board to knock Nick out in second.

  • 2nd - Nick
  • CHAMPION - Ludovic
  • The next final is in The Fire Engine on June 20th when we can moan about how England are playing rubbish in the World Cup. We hope to see a lot of you there!
