November 1st News Champion of Champions Game Result 5 full tables of league winners played in last weekends "Champion of Champions" game in the Yeoman. We started slightly after 1 after everyone negotiated the traffic on the Wells Road, and finished about 6 hours later when the field was reduced to the final two. First player out was Bruce. Taken out by Preditor. With a small bottle of bubbly on offer for the person with most knock outs, Preditor had the early lead, but was soon overtaken by Vern who quickly surged ahead in the kills chart and at the same time built up a big stack of chips! The final 8 emerged over the afternoon. Our first casualty on the final table was our first killer. Preditor getting taken out by the unstoppable Vern. 7th was Swifty. He was taken out by Pete Barrett. 6th was Pete from out of the Wheatsheaf. He was taken out by Pete Barrett in the same hand that Swifty got taken out in. 5th was me. Pushing my small stack all in with A-6, I ran into Pete B's pocket 8's and Verns King Jack that hit a king on the river. (At least Liverpool beat Chelsea that afternoon) 4th was Pete Barret. Will taking him out to leave our 3 prize winners. Third place was Will. He won a bottle of champagne and some chocolates after getting taken out by Grim Reaper. This left Grim and Vern, and heads up didn't last long. Grim played an aggressive game to counter Verns merry singing, and finally won with King-Jack beating Jack-6, to claim the trophy and some Bolly.
