The result from the September final

80 players started this months final in The Sandringham.

First out was Lord Overbet. Living up to his name I wonder??

When the dust settled and after hundreds of bets had been made, won, lost, bluffs called and bad beats dished out all over the place, we got down to our final 8.

Angie

Angie made up half of the Mother/Son team that made it through to the final 8. She got knocked out when she ran her pocket Jacks into Scarface's King and the board was K-5-5

Rich "The Boss" Pincott

Rich found himself horribly shortstacked and pushed all in blind with 5-6 and was called by "Koi" with A-6. No 5 came and The Boss was out in 7th.

Swifty

Having just lost a mammoth pot when his Aces got cracked by his own favourite hand, Q-T, Swifty ironically went out in 6th when he himself went all in with Q-T and ran into Danny's Ace-Q

Scarface

With more and more frequent glances at his watch, Scarface battled on to get 5th before becoming Dannys second victim, when Q-7 turned out to be no match for pocket Kings.

Pacman

Pacman was Dannys third KO in a row when he was knocked out in fourth. Pacman helf Pocket Jacks and raised all in. Danny thought, then called with A-Q of Hearts. Two hearts on the flop and one on the turn gave Pacman no chance, and out he went.

Danny

Danny was the other half of the Mother/Son team on the final table, and found himself in a pretty strong position when we reached three handed. Unfortunately he tangled with the other big stack left on a Queen high flop and found himself in a raised, then re-raised pot. All the chips went in and Danny turned over Q-5 only to see Koi turn over Q-A. We were down to two.... One small stack and one HUGE stack....

"The Pump"

A new player to the league, Damian "The Pump" Humphries did amazing to reach heads up in his first ever final. Having already secured the league at The Yeoman in only his third month of playing poker in our league. He was over the moon to just get this far, and finally finished second to...

Mark "Koi" Carpenter

Koi is one of the most established players in the league having won out first ever monthly final way back in 2006. Heads up was a fine example of all that experience being invaluable when it comes to playing at the sharp end of a tournament. He never gave The Pump even the slightest chance of victory and steamrollered his way over the finish line to pick up the cash and the trophy. The winning hand was the lowly 6-4 of clubs, but it proved to be enough to secure a fine triumph. He also walked off with the trophy for winning the league in the Fire Engine last month. Well played Koi.

A big thanks to Clive and all the staff in the Sandringham. We always get a really big turn out for the games held there, and this must be down to the friendly service, plus the fantastic big room we have access to. Its one of my favourite places for a final and no doubt we will be using it again pretty soon!.

No final in November, so the next one will be the DOUBLE MONTH final to be held in Olveston Sports and Social club on the 14th of December at 1pm. See you all there!
