July/August Monthly final result

A big field of 73 started the monthly final last Sunday in the garden of the Rhubarb.

The first player out was Rachael. Unluckily losing with a full house against runner-runner quads! She won a "Tournament Donkey" card guard for her efforts!

We also saw a Royal Flush when Sam Jefferies hit the absolute nuts whilst playing Q-6, the hand made famous in the Fire Engine pub he is regular player in.

The final table of 9 was reached, and everyone thought the first person out here would be the unlucky bubbler and when Anna-Marie lost a massive pot going all in on the flop chasing a flush draw that missed we thought that was it. 8 players left, 8 prize winners...

However!

When Bigzy then went out in 8th place, it was discovered that he wouldn't be able to take his place in the Gala festival as he isn't old enough! Rather an unfortunate discovery this late in the day, it meant that we decided to award the seat to Anna-Marie as the person knocked out in 9th.

  • 8th - Bigzy
  • Anthonie "Lazy Ace" reached another final table, this time he was out in 7th.

  • 7th - Anthonie
  • Wayne "2wo packs" Cunningham played well on home turf to reach 6th place.

  • 6th - Wayne
  • 5th place this time was Jerry.

  • 5th - Jerry
  • Dave Riches had his eye on a 4th monthly final win but this time came just short in 4th.

  • 4th - Dave
  • Little Al took the last of the £200 seats on offer by finishing in 3rd.

  • 3rd - Little Al
  • This left us with 2 players. Although both Tony and "Handsome" John Kayes had both won seats in the £500 game in the upcoming festival, we played on to get a winner of the Blue Glass trophy.

After moving inside to get back in the light from the ever increasing darkness inside, we eventually got our winner when JK hit trips holding Ace-4 on an Ace-6-Ace board and got called by a short stacked Tony holding Jack-Queen.

Tony therefore finished in 2nd place. A fantastic result in his first appearance at a final:

  • WINNER - "Handsome" John Kayes - TOP PRIZE £500 seat at Gala and a Blue Glass Trophy
  • Thanks to everyone who came along, and all the staff at the Rhubarb. Constant table service meant no-one had to go anywhere to get food or drink all day. Fantastic stuff.
